Cashless authorization, claim admissibility and final approval depend on the customer’s policy terms, insurer approval, survey findings and applicable network/cashless arrangements.
A clear incident chronology
The following planning guidance explains a specific part of the workshop process. It does not claim special National Insurance benefits or replace the insurer’s policy wording and claim instructions.
Write down the sequence while it is fresh
Record the approximate time, location and order of events as you remember them. Identify which details are certain and which are estimates. Do not change your account to make a particular part appear covered or to fit a suggested repair amount.
Keep observations separate from conclusions
You may report that a warning appeared after the incident without claiming to know its technical cause. A technician can investigate it and document findings. The insurer then considers whether the evidence and policy support including that work in the claim.
Explain actions taken afterwards
If the vehicle was moved, towed or received emergency attention, include those facts and available receipts. If an earlier message contained an error, correct it openly with the insurer rather than create a second inconsistent version of the event.
Useful preparation for this enquiry
- Date, place and approximate time of the incident
- A sequence of events using only facts you know
- Records of recovery or immediate work after the incident
What if I do not remember the precise time?
Say that the time is approximate. Accuracy about uncertainty is preferable to inventing a precise detail.

Independent workshop notice: National Insurance and its trademarks belong to their respective owner. CarTech Hub is an independent multi-brand workshop and does not decide claim coverage. This page does not assert insurer empanelment or guarantee cashless settlement. Cashless authorization, claim admissibility and final approval depend on the customer’s policy terms, insurer approval, survey findings and applicable network/cashless arrangements. Confirm current eligibility for the specific policy, vehicle and loss before authorising work.
