Hidden damage and supplementary estimates
The following planning guidance explains a specific part of the workshop process. It does not claim special Go Digit benefits or replace the insurer’s policy wording and claim instructions.
Why the first estimate can be incomplete
Exterior photographs do not reveal every bracket, mounting, pipe or wiring connection behind a panel. An initial inspection should state any areas that cannot yet be assessed, rather than pretending the first total is a guaranteed final price.
What a supplementary request should explain
A useful revision identifies the newly observed damage, the proposed repair and its relationship to the reported impact. Supporting photographs and an updated estimate help the insurer review the request. Added cost is not automatically accepted merely because the workshop found a concern.
Agree the next approval checkpoint
Ask which work can continue and which must wait for a decision. If you want to pay for a declined or unrelated item yourself, have that choice recorded separately. This prevents a pending supplementary request from being mistaken for unrestricted repair permission.
Useful preparation for this enquiry
- Original estimate and approval reference
- Questions about inaccessible areas at intake
- Written approval for any customer-funded addition
Is a supplementary estimate proof that the insurer will pay more?
No. It is a documented request for consideration; Go Digit determines its admissibility and authorisation.
