Hyundai Exter Service and Insurance Repair Guide for Guwahati

Exter maintenance starts with the manufacturing period and petrol or CNG configuration. This guide covers measured inspections, correct parts and a clear path through accident approval.

Look beyond the Exter's compact footprint

Daily parking manoeuvres and uneven approaches can leave a small car with concerns that deserve careful inspection. An Exter owner should describe a scrape, a newly noticed noise or a change in ride quality precisely, without assuming the visible mark tells the whole story. CarTech Hub is an independent multi-brand workshop in Guwahati and is not Hyundai-authorised. Before booking, confirm the requested service scope and whether any gas-system, restraint or body-geometry work needs a qualified specialist or referral.

Check the March 2026 production boundary

Hyundai lists separate Exter manuals for July 2023–March 2026 and March 2026 onward. Current model material uses HX trim names and includes a factory dual-cylinder CNG layout; older installations must be checked individually. The petrol 1.2-litre engine is offered with a five-speed manual or AMT, and the bi-fuel petrol/CNG version has a five-speed manual. Match VIN, manufacturing date, engine, gearbox and trim before ordering lamps, bumper mouldings, filters or suspension parts. A newer catalogue picture cannot confirm fitment on an earlier Exter.

Make scheduled maintenance specific

Check oil approval, engine and cabin filters, spark-plug requirements and coolant-system condition using the appropriate manual. Dust exposure and repeated short journeys should be discussed when selecting the applicable maintenance schedule. Examine hoses, belts, visible leakage and intake connections, then document what needs attention. A major service is an opportunity to reconcile missed work and present condition, not permission for a universal list of replacements. The estimate should explain scheduled items, measured wear and optional work before the customer authorises the bill.

Assess AMT behaviour and CNG equipment separately

AMT gear changes are managed through an automated manual mechanism. An unusual engagement delay or warning needs operating details, diagnostic evidence and checks of the relevant controls and clutch actuation; do not assume a conventional automatic-fluid service will resolve it. In a manual Exter, investigate pedal operation and clutch release when a shift concern occurs.

For CNG, provide installation and inspection records. Cylinder mountings, valves, lines and fuel changeover require suitably qualified assessment. The current dual-cylinder arrangement and underbody spare-wheel provision make underside checks relevant, but the exact fitted layout must be established first.

Inspect braking and suspension after rough-road use

The current Exter specification has front disc and rear drum brakes. Wear measurements, hose condition and parking-brake operation should guide any replacement quote. Check tyres, wheel rims, dampers, bushes and joints when ride or steering changes are reported. A tall body shape does not establish the cause of a rattle or a pulling sensation. After a wheel strike, assess damage before alignment. If the car has seriously reduced braking or unstable steering, stop in a safe place and arrange transport instead of continuing to the workshop.

Follow airflow and electrical evidence

Weak cooling may involve the cabin filter, airflow control, condenser, fan or refrigerant circuit. Agree on the tests before a gas recharge or compressor recommendation. For battery drain or intermittent starting, electrical supply and charging checks should come before replacing an electronic module. Identify fitted cameras, sensors and accessories when reporting a fault. A warning code points toward an investigation; it does not independently prove the listed part is defective. Water exposure should be described honestly so moisture-related checks can be considered without energising unsafe components.

Include the hidden supports in a body estimate

Exter bumper cladding and visible trims sit alongside brackets, lamp supports and wiring that may also need inspection after an impact. Rear repairs can involve the tailgate latch, seals, glass and floor; front repairs may require checking cooling-system clearance. Confirm the correct pre- or post-update part numbers and paint scope. If structural alignment, airbags or seat-belt pretensioners are implicated, establish a qualified repair route. For a car under manufacturer warranty, seek Hyundai guidance on the relevant warranty repair and documentation requirements.

Keep insurance approval separate from service wear

Photograph the damage, report the accident and collect the policy, RC, driving licence and claim form. An FIR or extra documents may be required for particular incidents. The insurer or surveyor should inspect the estimate and approve insured repairs or dismantling before they begin unless earlier work is expressly allowed. Newly discovered damage needs further approval. Cashless treatment is conditional on cover, insurer assessment, survey and workshop network eligibility; no network tie-up should be inferred from a claim enquiry.

Third-party-only insurance cannot fund your Exter's own damage, and worn brakes or routine service items are not accident claims. After the approved repairs, review function, fit, finish and relevant quality checks. Confirm the customer's deductible, depreciation where applicable, exclusions and non-payables, then settle the agreed payable amount before delivery.

Send the right details before your visit

Quick answers

Should an Exter sunroof leak be reported even when the cabin dries?

Yes. Note where water entered and the weather conditions, and retain photographs. Drainage, seals and surrounding areas need an inspection; drying alone does not identify or resolve the entry path.

Can the spare wheel arrangement be assumed from the trim badge?

No. Inspect the actual vehicle and check its manual. Fuel layout, manufacturing period and equipment can affect the arrangement, so confirm what is fitted before ordering related supports or planning tyre assistance.

What should I send after scraping the underside of a CNG Exter?

Share safe photographs and the incident details, but do not crawl under an unsupported car or disturb gas components. If gas leakage or component damage is suspected, arrange qualified assistance and recovery.

Does an accessory dashcam recording guarantee claim acceptance?

No. It may help document the incident, but the insurer still assesses cover, circumstances, documentation and repair scope. Keep the original recording and ask how it should be submitted.
