A knock over a rough patch can sound as if it comes from one corner, yet identifying its cause takes more than listening from the driver's seat. Suspension, steering, tyres, wheel bearings and nearby mountings influence how a Maruti Suzuki feels on the road. For Guwahati motorists, a useful inspection begins by describing that feeling accurately and checking related systems together.
Start with the change in behaviour
Tell the workshop whether the complaint is a noise, steering vibration, repeated bouncing, pulling or uneven tyre wear. State when it happens: over a small bump, during braking, while turning or after the vehicle is loaded. Mention a recent pothole impact, wheel change or accident. Those details help establish an inspection path without assuming that one road event explains every symptom.
Do not carry out sharp turns or high-speed tests to recreate a concern. If steering control feels unsafe, a wheel appears damaged or the vehicle behaves unpredictably, stop using it and seek advice about recovery.
Separate tyre and wheel issues from suspension findings
Tyre pressure, damage, wear and wheel condition need attention alongside the suspension. Use the pressure guidance for the actual vehicle and load. Uneven wear can be useful evidence, but it does not identify a failed part by itself. Likewise, wheel alignment cannot correct looseness or a damaged component that first needs repair.
A workshop should consider whether a road test is safe before undertaking one. An underbody examination can then investigate the areas suggested by the complaint. Keep photographs or notes of any visible findings, particularly after an impact, for the estimate discussion.
Ask about the complete component group
Dampers and their surrounding parts
Shock absorbers or struts work with springs, mountings, protective parts and other components. Leakage or an unusual response may deserve closer assessment. The technician should explain whether the finding concerns the damper itself or an associated part. A replacement must be suitable for the model, generation and suspension arrangement.
Links, joints and bushes
Arms, joints, bushes and stabiliser-related components can create symptoms that overlap with a damper complaint. Ask which area shows measurable play, damage or deterioration and how it relates to the reported concern. Avoid accepting “complete suspension work” without an itemised explanation.
Steering and bearings
Wheel-bearing and steering concerns may require a separate diagnosis. A humming noise or steering movement should not automatically be grouped into a shock-absorber replacement quote. The job card should record which checks are included and whether another issue remains unresolved.
Match the repair to the actual Maruti
The Brezza and WagonR guides provide different vehicle contexts; they are not interchangeable parts catalogues. Wheel size, year, suspension configuration and previous modifications can affect the work. Share any nonstandard wheels or suspension changes before a quotation is finalised.
For parts decisions, use our VIN and fitment guide. Confirm the proposed parts standard and availability. The estimate should identify labour, additional checks and whether alignment or another finishing operation is required after the particular repair.
Check the outcome at collection
Ask which original symptom was addressed and what verification was completed. If a noise could not be reproduced, agree on the next observation rather than treating it as a confirmed repair. Keep the invoice and any advice about tyres or a deferred component so that the next technician can follow the history.
CarTech Hub, an independent multi-brand car workshop in Guwahati, can discuss inspection and applicable repair scope after receiving the vehicle details. It does not claim manufacturer-authorised Maruti Suzuki status or universal availability of suspension parts.

Quick answers
Will alignment remove a knocking noise?
Not if the noise comes from damage or looseness that needs repair. Determine the cause before deciding whether alignment is part of the work.
Can uneven tyre wear prove that a shock absorber has failed?
No. It is one observation that needs assessment alongside tyre condition, alignment, suspension components and usage.
