Identify which India IONIQ 5 you own

The IONIQ 5’s familiar shape can conceal a significant version difference. Hyundai’s October 2026 India specification describes an 84 kWh rear-wheel-drive model, while its earlier India owner manual documents a 72.6 kWh battery. The manual index separates May 2026 onward documentation from the earlier period. Do not apply one capacity or service procedure to every IONIQ 5 merely because the name is unchanged.

IONIQ 5 remains in Hyundai’s current India range. An owner in Guwahati should share the VIN, manufacturing year, battery version, motor, reduction-drive and trim details before a service plan, parts quotation or accident estimate is prepared.

Make the EV service plan version specific

Consult the matching manual for cooling-system requirements, reduction-drive checks, brake fluid and cabin-filter maintenance. Review elapsed time, distance and use conditions. Inspect tyres, wheel condition, steering and suspension joints, drive-shaft boots and relevant hoses or fittings. An EV service needs a clear inspection list even without a conventional combustion powertrain.

The current India specification describes a single-speed reduction gear and rear-wheel drive; imported or different-market versions must be identified separately. Earlier and updated vehicles may differ in cooling and other equipment. Correct fluids and procedures must be verified against the exact version rather than copied from an old online table.

Distinguish a 12V problem from a high-voltage warning

A low-voltage 12V battery supports the vehicle’s controls and other electrical equipment; it is separate from the traction battery. Difficulty making the vehicle ready or intermittent low-voltage behaviour needs the correct battery, connection and fault checks. It does not by itself prove that the high-voltage battery is defective.

CarTech Hub is an independent multi-brand workshop in Guwahati, not an authorised Hyundai workshop. High-voltage faults, isolation concerns and manufacturer warranty issues require qualified EV assessment and OEM procedures, with referral through the appropriate channel. This article does not claim in-house battery-pack repair or high-voltage component replacement capability.

Treat brake and tyre condition as everyday maintenance

Regeneration changes how the car slows, but the friction braking system still needs inspection. Check pads, discs, caliper operation, hoses and parking-brake function as fitted. Explain unfamiliar noise, pull or pedal feel instead of assuming regeneration makes the concern harmless.

The current India specification lists 20-inch wheels; confirm the actual tyre size, load specification and fitted version before ordering. Inspect cuts, uneven wear and damage after potholes. Suspension and alignment checks should follow measured findings. A cosmetic alloy repair cannot establish that a wheel remains safe after a significant impact.

Keep charging records useful and avoid unsafe intervention

Record whether the concern occurs on AC, DC or both, along with state of charge, messages, charging equipment and surrounding conditions. A slower session can result from the charger or operating conditions as well as the vehicle. Advertised charging times depend on specific conditions and should not be used as a universal diagnostic threshold.

Visual checks can identify damaged external charge-port fittings or cables. Do not probe contacts or open orange high-voltage cables, connectors or battery covers. Qualified EV specialists should assess charging-system or thermal-management concerns under Hyundai procedures. Cabin AC airflow and filter issues can be discussed separately from high-voltage or battery cooling faults.

Body repairs must respect the E-GMP layout

Hyundai describes a dedicated E-GMP architecture with the battery positioned under the floor. A side, sill or underbody impact therefore deserves qualified assessment beyond paintwork. Record the impact location and visible damage before attempting repair. Safety clearance is distinct from an insurer’s decision on what it will pay.

Verify compatible panels, lamp assemblies, door fittings and charge-port trim by VIN. ADAS cameras or sensors as fitted may need prescribed checks or calibration when surrounding components are disturbed. Airbags, restraints and structural repairs require confirmed specialist capability and referral where necessary. Accident assessment information helps frame the enquiry.

Put EV damage and claim approval on the same record

For an IONIQ 5 underfloor impact, tell the insurer where the contact occurred and retain photographs before any cosmetic changes hide the evidence. Supply the requested claim form together with the RC, policy schedule and driving licence. A Tata AIG or HDFC ERGO policyholder should read the actual EV cover and add-on wording while following that insurer’s notification instructions. Police documentation, including an FIR, is needed only where applicable. An own-damage provision is essential: third-party-only insurance will not pay for your own car’s damage. Ordinary mechanical wear remains a maintenance question rather than a normal accident claim.

Separate the underfloor safety assessment from the repair estimate: explain specialist EV referral and list proposed panel or fitting work for insurer consideration. Preserve the car for the required survey and await approval before insured repair or dismantling unless the insurer permits an exception. Further damage needs supplementary approval. Once accepted work is complete, retain quality-check records and compare the invoice with the authorised scope. Settle the owner’s deductibles, depreciation, excluded and non-payable charges before collection. Confirm whether this insurer and policy allow cashless payment following the survey and workshop-network check; CarTech Hub claims no insurer partnership.

Arrange the appropriate assessment in Guwahati

Read the Hyundai service guide hub and Kona Electric guide for related EV topics. Book an IONIQ 5 enquiry, send an insurance request, telephone CarTech Hub or share details on WhatsApp. Use Hyundai reviews and directions and diagnostic service information; confirm the safe attendance or referral route if the car has an impact or high-voltage warning.

Independent workshop: CarTech Hub is a multi-brand car workshop in Guwahati. This guide does not establish manufacturer authorisation, insurer affiliation or parts availability. Confirm the vehicle-specific repair scope and any specialist referral with the workshop.

Quick answers

Does every India IONIQ 5 have the same battery capacity?

No. Hyundai’s earlier India manual documents 72.6 kWh, while the current October 2026 India specification lists 84 kWh. Identify the VIN and manufacturing details before applying capacity, parts or service information.

Why can an IONIQ 5 DC charging session take longer than advertised?

Charger output, battery condition and temperature, state of charge and other operating conditions affect charging time. Record the actual session and messages so qualified assessment can distinguish equipment limitations from a vehicle fault.

Should an IONIQ 5 sill impact be checked even if the doors close?

Yes. The battery sits under the floor on the E-GMP architecture, so the impact path needs qualified assessment. Door closure and paint condition alone do not establish underbody or electrical safety.

Is an insurer’s IONIQ 5 repair approval a high-voltage safety clearance?

No. Insurance approval concerns the accepted claim scope. Qualified EV assessment and Hyundai safety procedures separately determine the appropriate handling and referral of high-voltage concerns.
